Capsule shrinking machines

Multi-head capsule shrinking machine

Capsule shrinking gives a corked or capped bottle its finished neck appearance and can add a visible tamper-evidence layer when the approved package is designed for that purpose. It is a post-closure process, so the capsule material, bottle finish and heat sensitivity must be evaluated together.

Position in the packaging line

A typical sequence is:

Filling -> corking or capping -> capsule placement -> shrinking or rolling -> labeling and coding -> case packing

The machine must receive bottles in a stable, correctly spaced condition. Existing labels, decorative coatings and product temperature can affect the acceptable heating method.

Package suitability

Confirm the following before procurement:

  • Bottle material, shoulder shape, neck dimensions and closure height
  • Capsule material, thickness, dimensions, perforation and decoration
  • Manual or automatic capsule placement
  • Whether rolling, shrinking or both operations are required
  • Product and package sensitivity to heat
  • Exhaust, guarding and operator access available at the installation point

What changes the manufacturer price

  • Single-head, multi-head or combined rolling-shrinking configuration
  • Capsule feeding and placement scope
  • Bottle formats and supplied change parts
  • Heating, temperature control, extraction and guarding arrangement
  • Conveyor, spacing device and upstream/downstream controls
  • Destination power supply, packing, delivery and commissioning scope

Information needed for a quote

Provide bottle and closure drawings, physical capsule samples, target line output, current upstream capper or corker, downstream labeler, available conveyor height, power supply, layout and destination. State any appearance standard, approved sample or heat-sensitive decoration that must be protected.

FAT and service boundary

Acceptance should use the approved bottle, closure and capsule. Record the allowed wrinkles, skew, scorching, surface damage and changeover method in the test protocol. Installation, exhaust ducting, local electrical work, travel, training, spare heaters or consumables and after-sales response are included only when itemized in the quotation or contract.
