Laser coding and marking machines

Fiber laser marking machine

Laser coding adds date, batch, serial or traceability information without ink consumables, but the correct laser source depends on the material and required mark. Bottle, cap, label film and carton can react differently, so a sample-marking trial is more useful than selecting equipment by wattage alone.

Position in the packaging line

The marking head can be installed:

  • After closure to mark a cap or bottle surface
  • After labeling to mark the label or a designated panel
  • Before case packing to apply unit-level information
  • At the case conveyor when only secondary packaging is marked

The line must provide stable product spacing, a known marking window and a safe enclosed installation area.

Substrate and code definition

Provide the following before selection:

  • Exact bottle, cap, label or carton material and color
  • Required text, date format, batch logic, logo, barcode or QR content
  • Marking area, field size and orientation
  • Conveyor movement and available trigger signal
  • Contrast and readability requirement
  • Production data source and communication boundary
  • Guarding, fume extraction and local laser-safety requirements

CO2 and fiber sources suit different substrates. Final selection should follow an approved sample result and written application review.

Published product-page specifications are reference data. The quote should identify the selected source, lens, controls and protective scope.

What changes the factory price

  • Laser source and optical configuration selected after the sample test
  • Static workstation or moving-conveyor integration
  • Encoder, sensor, stand, enclosure and extraction scope
  • Code software, data communication and operator access
  • Number of formats and marking positions
  • Documentation, destination compliance items, delivery and commissioning

Information needed for a quote

Send unmarked package samples, artwork or code examples, required data logic, target line output, conveyor dimensions, marking position, production environment, utilities, layout and destination. Confirm whether the manufacturer will perform sample marking and who pays sample transport.

Acceptance, safety and service boundary

FAT should use the approved substrate and code file. Define readability, contrast, position, data change, trigger reliability and line-speed test method. Laser guarding, extraction ducting, local certification, installation, travel, training, spare parts and software support must be itemized. No substrate result should be guaranteed without an approved sample or contracted test method.
