Bottle drying machines for packaging lines

Air-knife bottle drying machine

Bottle drying removes surface water before labeling, coding, inspection or case packing. It is different from product drying: the purchasing decision is driven by bottle geometry, the amount and location of retained water, line speed and the downstream surface condition required by the label or code.

Position in the production line

Typical positions include:

  • Bottle rinsing -> external drying if required -> filling
  • Filling or pasteurization -> cooling -> bottle drying -> labeling
  • Wet cleaning -> drying -> laser coding or visual inspection
  • Filled bottle transfer -> targeted neck or shoulder drying -> case packing

The preferred position depends on whether water is inside the bottle, on the outside surface or trapped around the closure.

Bottle and line conditions to confirm

  • Glass or PET bottle, shape, ribs, shoulder and base recesses
  • Bottle temperature and the expected amount of surface water
  • Required dryness at the label, code or inspection area
  • Available conveyor width, height and side access
  • Line speed basis and bottle spacing
  • Acceptable air consumption, noise-control and drainage arrangement

Procurement decisions that affect price

  • Stand-alone dryer or dryer integrated with a supplied conveyor
  • Number and position of air outlets required for the bottle geometry
  • Blower, filtration, enclosure, drainage and noise-control scope
  • Bottle guide and change parts for each format
  • Interface with washer, pasteurizer, labeler or coder
  • Destination power, packing, delivery, installation and commissioning

Data needed for a manufacturer quote

Send bottle drawings and samples, photos showing retained water, target output, upstream wet process, required downstream surface condition, conveyor dimensions, power supply, layout and destination. State whether the existing conveyor will be reused and who supplies drainage or acoustic treatment.

Acceptance and after-sales boundary

FAT should use approved bottles under an agreed wetting method. Define where residual droplets are checked, how long the line runs, acceptable bottle instability and the changeover procedure. Installation labor, local ducting or drainage, travel, training, spare blower parts and support response are included only when written into the commercial offer or contract.
