Hazelnut Oil Pressing Line

Hazelnut oil line sizing starts with shelled kernels. In-shell nut weight cannot be used as press capacity because shell ratio, broken kernels, and rejected material change the usable feed. Product grade also determines whether the trial uses unroasted kernels or a separately controlled roast.

Raw Material Boundary

Declare whole nuts or kernels, variety, origin, shell fraction, moisture, and storage history. Remove moldy, insect-damaged, scorched, dark, or rancid kernels. Salted, flavored, or previously roasted snack material is a separate feed specification and requires a dedicated trial and cleaning review.

  1. Crack and separate shells without carrying sharp fragments into the grinder.
  2. Sort and clean the kernels, including metal detection where required.
  3. Measure moisture and use gentle drying or tempering only when needed.
  4. Crush evenly immediately before the batch is loaded.
  5. Keep roasted and unroasted product trials separate.

Pressing Route and Equipment

Hydraulic batch cold pressing is the first route to evaluate for a light-flavor food or cosmetic oil. A lightly roasted route can be trialed when a stronger nut aroma is the commercial target. Select the press from measured bulk density, charge weight, cycle time, cake release, and filtered-oil result.

Filtration and Finished-Oil Target

Agree on settling or fine filtration, sampling time, visible sediment, clarity, color, aroma, and any oxidation-related laboratory checks. Tanks and packages should match the required protection from light, air, and residual old oil between batches.

Data Required for a Quotation

  • In-shell or kernel sample, shell ratio, moisture, rejected-kernel fraction, storage time, and signs of rancidity
  • Usable kernel input per batch or day, shifts, and shelling or sorting scope
  • Cold-pressed or roasted flavor target and intended food or cosmetic use
  • Filtration grade, tank and package requirements, and agreed oil tests
  • Power, floor space, sanitation requirements, destination, and delivery terms

Acceptance Records

Record the approved lot, shell removal and rejection weights, kernel moisture, crush size, charge weight, cycle time, oil temperature, crude and filtered oil, and cake weight. After the agreed settling or filtration interval, document clarity, color, nut aroma, burnt or rancid notes, cake discharge, retained product, and cleaning results.
