Palm Fruit and Palm Kernel Oil Lines

Palm oil from fresh fruit pulp and palm kernel oil from the kernel inside the nut are produced on separate lines. A quotation must identify fresh fruit bunches, loose fruit, recovered palm nuts, or clean palm kernels before any equipment is selected.

Palm pulp and palm kernel material reference

Raw Material Boundary

Fresh fruit route: fresh fruit bunches or loose fruits, with harvest-to-mill time, ripeness, contamination, and daily arrival profile recorded.

Palm kernel route: recovered nuts or separated kernels, with shell fraction, moisture, broken-kernel fraction, and storage condition recorded.

Fresh palm fruit is not dry oilseed feed. Palm kernels are not the same as palm pulp and must not be included in the fresh-fruit press balance.

Correct Pretreatment

Fresh Palm Fruit

  1. Receive and weigh fresh fruit bunches promptly.
  2. Sterilize the bunches with a controlled steam cycle.
  3. Thresh or strip the fruits from the bunches.
  4. Digest and mash the fruit pulp.
  5. Feed the prepared pulp to a dedicated palm-oil screw press.

Palm Kernels

  1. Recover and dry the nuts.
  2. Crack the nuts and separate shells from kernels.
  3. Clean, dry, and size the kernels.
  4. Condition the kernels for the selected pressing route.

Dedicated Pressing Route

The fresh-fruit route is:

sterilization -> threshing -> digestion -> dedicated screw pressing -> screening and clarification -> oil purification and drying -> crude palm oil storage

A standard 300-500 Series hydraulic oil press is not used for fresh palm fruit. The line also needs separate handling for empty bunches, fiber, nuts, condensate, sludge, and effluent.

Palm kernels use a separate kernel-crushing line with shell separation, conditioning, mechanical pressing, and filtration. Kernel equipment is selected from a representative kernel trial and the required continuous capacity.

Equipment Entry Points

Clarification, Filtration, and Finished-Oil Target

For crude palm oil, define the sampling point after clarification and drying, visible solids, water and moisture criteria, storage temperature control, tank scope, and whether refining is included. For palm kernel oil, define crude solids removal, filtration grade, moisture, storage, and downstream refining separately.

Data Required for a Quotation

  • Fresh fruit bunches, loose fruit, palm nuts, or kernels; photos, representative sample where practical, and available quality data
  • Fresh-fruit throughput by hour or day, arrival pattern, season, and harvest-to-mill time; or dry-kernel throughput and shell fraction
  • Crude palm oil or refined oil target, kernel recovery scope, and all by-product boundaries
  • Steam, water, power, fuel, tanks, wastewater and sludge plan, and available factory area
  • Destination, local installation conditions, requested automation, and delivery terms

Acceptance Records

For fresh fruit, record receiving time and weight, sterilization cycle, threshing result, digester and screw-press load, and the agreed mass balance for oil, fiber, nuts, empty bunches, condensate, sludge, and effluent. At clarification and drying, sample and record solids, water, and moisture using the agreed method. For a kernel line, record shell separation, kernel moisture, feed rate, oil, cake, filtration result, and product sampling independently.

Request a Configuration and Quote

Send the exact palm feed type, fresh-fruit or kernel capacity basis, product scope, steam and water conditions, by-product plan, factory layout, and destination. The quotation will separate the fresh-fruit and palm-kernel lines.
